"I was riveted by this story from beginning to end, so much so that I read the entire book in one afternoon and then immediately downloaded the other books." (The Romance Dish)

After a rough deployment in Afghanistan, Murphy Dolan arrives home in the middle of the night, wanting nothing but his bed. Except, a beautiful stranger is sleeping in it.

Running for her life and hiding her identity, Kate Bridges claims a rental mix-up and refuses to move out. She's the only person who can identify the most notorious hit man in the country, and she has no money left to keep running. But how long can she hide the truth from Murphy? And can she trust him when trouble finally catches up with her?

Excerpt

He dropped his bag, fished out his keys and unlocked the door. The house wasn't exactly home yet, but it would be once the renovations were finished. Right now, except for the main living areas downstairs, most of the place was still a construction zone.

No big deal. He was grateful that he'd lived to see the place again. Too many of his friends weren't coming back. He swung his bag inside, untied his boots and kicked them off as he went, shedding clothes on the floor. He didn't even turn on the lights. Plenty of moonlight came in the windows, and he knew the place.

All he wanted right now was to stretch out his weary bones and sleep on his own sheets. The bedroom was fixed up. Thank God for that.

The guest bedrooms and guest bath upstairs and the staircase that led to them needed plenty of work still, as did the basement and the outside of the house, starting with the roof. He'd tackle that in the spring. He shut that line of thought down. He didn't have the energy to so much as think about work.

Down to nothing but his ACU pants, he dragged his tired, aching frame into his bedroom, then pulled up short at the sight of a nearly naked woman in his bed.

What the hell?

Her long legs tangled in the sheets, her mess of reddish-brown hair half across her face. Her white nightgown, nothing but a scrap of fabric, looked shrink-wrapped around her torso and hips. He caught her scent, a faint trace of old-fashioned roses, sexy and somehow homey at the same time.

He stared, suddenly wide awake and then some. Even the pain in his shoulder stopped pulsing.

As a welcome home present, he approved one-hundred percent.

Except for the screaming.

Wow! I just loved this book, the first one I have read by this author. Very well written and very hard to put down to get some sleep (I read at night, going to bed.) A real whodunit that kept my interest from start to finish, and had an ending that I really wasn't expecting. In fact, I didn't see how the h was going to get out of the pickle she was in but she did! And very satisfactorily, although I was very pleased to read that the H and h will be back in a future book. I am very happy about that, as I loved both of them. Now I absolutely have to read more by this author.

I loved this book! ❤❤❤ And it's free! What more could you ask for? Well, at the back of the book there is a link to sign up for the author's newsletter, which says it will get you book two free as well! I did it, but haven't received my free book, so I'm hoping the offer is still good. I'll let you know.

Now, what did I love? EVERYTHING! This book is beautifully written and paced. No breaks, no boring moments, no flaws, just well done storytelling from beginning to end, with a terrified heroine, Kate, and an injured cop/soldier, Murphy.

Kate is terrific. She's been through so much in her life and still has the capacity to laugh. One of the charming things about her is her addiction to chocolate. She stashes chocolate everywhere. She also never swears...at all...in moments of surprise or stress, she thinks in chocolate expletives..."sweet cocoa-bean heaven"...which made me laugh. Pretty nice stress relievers.

I think everyone who reads this story will fall a little bit in love with Murphy. Wounded warrior? Of course he's adorable. He also realizes from the beginning that the gorgeous woman who refuses to leave his home is hiding something, so he uses all of his cop skills to discover the truth. He also likes to find and steal her chocolates, stashed all over the house!

Seperately, they are great characters...together the sexual tension fairly sizzles! The difference is that they wait, neither being in an emotional place in their lives to explore the obvious chemistry between them. It was sweet...and hot!

I can't fail to mention a whole town full of characters that I'm sure will make appearances in future books, and I am looking forward to seeing much more of them. This is an opportunity to dive into what looks like a captivating series, with a free copy of book one, so pick up your copy today and...

Enjoy!

Great new series, Broslin Creek. I really enjoyed Deathwatch.

Loved the characters Kate and Murphy. This book had both leading characters going through their own problems and pasts. Kate hiding from an assassin being that she's the only one who can identify him and Murphy coming back from war and his own PTSD problems.

They were a well matched. And the book was fast paced and action filled. A great suspense romance novel. I do wish it was longer though but it was very enjoyable.
This is a good story, and I like how they get together. I also like how it showed that the law doesn't always get things right. I don't like the main story doesn't get wrapped up. I think they should tell you up front that you'll have to buy the next book or next few books to see how the story ends.
Deathwatch was a short, fast-paced book (it takes place over the span of a few days). Kate is in hiding from an assassin after witnessing a murder, Murphy is just returning (injured) from war.

I liked both characters. Kate is a strong, smart woman. I appreciated that she wasn't some weepy, whiny victim. Murph has PTSD issues, but is an all-around good guy. He and Kate have chemistry together.

Because the book is short, I feel like some character development was missing. Kate had a horrible childhood (lots of time in the foster system) and I would have like to have delved into that a bit more. I would have liked to have gotten to "know" Kate and Murph better.

There are subplots about the police Captain and a bank-robbing gang that are mentioned, but there needed to be more information about them for me to care. They kind of seemed like filler.

The ending isn't necessarily a cliffhanger, but Kate and Murph's situation is only partly resolved. The author did mention they would appear in further books, but reading the descriptions of the next two books, they are about completely different characters. I wish this would have had a more final ending.
